
Claire’s eclectic cuisine offers an array of
tastes from around the world. The menu, which changes seasonally,
features unique dishes, such as a twist on a Virginia favorite – Oysters
in a Cornmeal Crust. Fresh herbs and garnishes from Claire’s own garden,
including four different kinds of basil, vibrant peppers and exquisite
flowers, give superb flavor and lovely presentation to the chefs’
creations.
Outstanding seafood is a specialty, starting with Claire’s famous she
crab soup. "Every spoonful delivers a pinprick of pleasure," wrote Washington Post restaurant reviewer Tom Sietsema. Cedar planked halibut with a chive and garlic butter was one
of Claire’s recent entrees. Delectable vegetarian plates, such as
Coconut Curried Vegetables and Sundried Tomato & Mascarpone Ravioli,
round out the menu’s extraordinary diversity.
Claire’s offers an extensive wine list, from South African
selections to local favorites from Virginia’s own vineyards, all
reasonably-priced. By the glass, there are twelve excellent varieties
from which to choose.
